To ensure that individuals who purchased health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace receive the full premium tax credit they are entitled to based on their income and household size, the IRS provides Form 8962 for this purpose. If the individual received an advance payment that was too large, the form would determine the amount of money that needs to be refunded together with any additional credit that person may be entitled to.
